Honey Layer Cake

Ingredients
2 Cups sifted flour
1½ Teaspoons baking powder
½ Teaspoon salt
½ Cup shortening
1¼ Cups honey
2 Eggs
3 Squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
2/3 Cup water
1 Teaspoon vanilla
1 Teaspoon baking soda
Instructions

Sift flour and measure. Add soda and salt. In separate bowl cream shortening, gradually add honey; beat well after each addition to keep mixture thick. Add ¼ of the flour mixture, beat until smooth. Add eggs one at a time; beating well. Stir in chocolate; blend. Add remaining flour alternately with water; beating well. Add vanilla.

Pour into 2 greased 8"x8"x2" layer pans.

Preheat oven to 325° F. Bake 30-35 minutes.

FROSTING:
2/3 Cup shortening
1 Teaspoon vanilla
3 Cups powdered sugar
6 Tablespoons cocoa

Cream shortening gradually add powdered sugar, beat till smooth, adding milk as needed, blend in cocoa and vanilla.
