Professional Responsibilities and Activities:
Research
Conduct biological control of insect pest research in maize, and agave, with emphasis on the fall armyworm, corn earworm, agave weevil, Diabroticas, and the coconut weevil. Conduct plant resistance to insects research in maize with emphasis on the fall armyworm.
The studies involve testing of entomopathogenic nematodes, fungi and bacteria and the molecular identification of insect pests of global importance.
Teaching
Dr. Molina-Ochoa has a formal teaching appointment. He teaches General Genetics and Plant Breeding to undergraduate students and Biological Control topics for graduate students.
Mentoring
Dr. Molina-Ochoa has advised 43 Engineers in Agronomy in the undergraduate program, and 9 and 7, Masters and Doctors of Science in Biotechnology, respectively. He is also mentoring graduate students in the Universidad de Guanajuato and Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes in the Graduate Program in Animal Science, in Mexico.
Publications
He has published over 50 refereed journal articles, 8 book chapters, and more then 40 publications dealing with biological control of arthropod pests, including agricultural and livestock pests, crop protection, horticulture, sustainable agriculture and soil amendments.
