Updated May 5, 2006 by Gary Hein and John Thomas

Economic Thresholds:

Confection:
Red Seed Weevil--- Begin to treat when plants have reached the R5.1 stage and one red seed weevil can be found per head.
Gray Seed Weevil---Begin to treat when plants have reached the R4 stage and one gray seed weevil can be found per bud.

Oilseed:
Use the treatment timings noted above in confection thresholds. Treatment thresholds will be similar for both the red and gray seed weevils and will range from 8 to 15 weevils per head depending on market price, cost of control and plant population. To more carefully evaluate these thresholds, see the following web site: http://ext.nodak.edu/extpubs/plantsci/pests/e1143w1.htm.
