My name is Samantha Akers. I am originally from San Luis Obispo, CA but now live in San Angelo, TX. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we operate my family's 100 year old cattle ranch here in Texas. I love to travel in my time off, and we just returned from Ireland, Scotland, England, and France over the summer. I currently work for ADAMA Agricultural Solutions as a sales rep covering West Texas. I meet with distributors and growers and discuss the issues they face and the role ADAMA's chemicals have in their operations. I cover a large territory that keeps me very busy traveling and seeing new things.
My love for insects stems from my undergraduate career at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. My advisor was the Entomology head and always kept me interested and motivated in the lab. Insects were fun and I carried that over to my first career as a Pest Control Advisor upon graduation. I loved finding and identifying insect pests in the field and solving how to control them for my grower customers. This program offers me the opportunity to continue working and obtaining my graduate degree at my own pace. I look forward to seeing where it takes me on my career path.
