What Do They Eat?  Mostly fresh and rotting plant material.  

Where Do You Find Them?  Found in the southwestern U.S.

Fact:  Adults play dead to avoid danger.   The bluish color of the beetles helps them to blend in with their landscape.

Metamorphosis: Complete (egg -> larvae ->pupa -> adult)
