Dr. Doug GolickDr. Doug Golick (right) was featured on Pure Nebraska discussing the July 9th East Campus Discovery Days and Farmers' Market. Sponsored by the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR), this event has family-friendly activities for all ages.

Various booths and exhibits showcase the work that faculty, staff, and students do to benefit Nebraska and the world, according to Golick. Booths include the Lawrence Bruner Club from the Entomology Department, Backyard Farmer Garden, 4-H/Nebraska Extension, Big Red Resilience & Well-Being, Biological Systems Engineering, Buy Fresh - Buy Local Nebraska, Color our Soil, Forensic Science, and more.

This year, BugFest will be held in conjunction with the East Campus Discovery Days and Farmers' Market on Saturday, Aug. 13, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on UNL's East Campus. BugFest is an annual open house for the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Department of Entomology. During the Covid pandemic, BugFest was held virtually last September. Now that Covid infections have been reduced, Golick said this is the opportunity to bring back BugFest, even though it will have a different format to it.   BugFest guests will be able to view Nebraska insects, learn about bees in their hives, and hear from Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches! More details will be available about BugFest at a later date.

Both events are are free and designed to invite the community to see the work being done by East Campus and Entomology employees.
