On Display:                                     Green banana, domino, Madagascar hissing, deathhead, and giant cockroaches

Other Names:                                 Palmetto bugs, water bugs

How Big Are They?:                        The smallest is only about 1/10th of an inch (3 mm) long.   The largest are over 3 ½ inches (8.7 cm) long.  

Good Things They Do:                   Cockroaches help recycle plant material and a few are predators, eating other insects.

Not So Good Things They Do:       Get into food, cause allergies.

Where Do You Find Them?           Almost everywhere, but most common in warm places

Interesting Things About Them: Cockroaches can pull more than 20 times their own weight. One cockroach is thought to have travelled to space after it was found in the Apollo XII command shuttle after it landed on earth.
