Hometown:  Newman Grove, NE

Major(s):  Forensic Science and Insect Science

Why did you choose the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

I grew up going to the spring games with my grandpa and aunt, so it was always my dream to attend UNL. When I visited the forensic science program during my senior year of high school, I knew this was where I wanted to go.

Why did you decide to major in Insect Science? What is your favorite thing about this major?

I participated in a forensic entomology summer UCARE project. This project opened my eyes to the field of entomology and that was when I decided to add an entomology major. My favorite thing about this major is how fun and interesting all the classes are. Everyone is so welcoming and encouraging, too, which really makes it a fun experience.

What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?

My favorite class so far would have to be my crime scene investigation class. We threw a surprise birthday party for our professor and a classmate. We also had cadaver dog demonstrations, which was really cool to see. It was a really fun and interesting class.

Are you involved in any clubs/organizations at UNL?

I am involved in the Forensic Science Club and the Insect Science Club. I also help out with the Big Red Pawp-Up events when I can.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I plan on attending graduate school here at UNL!

What do you like to do in your free time?

I like to go for walks and hang out with my friends!
