Why did you choose the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln seemed like the obvious choice for me. It had everything I wanted: my major, it’s near my family, and it felt small and tight-knit.
Why did you decide to major in Insect Science? What is your favorite thing about this major?
I attribute my choice of major to a mentor of mine from Ord, Crystal Ramm. She has her doctorate in Insect Plant Interactions and during the summers used to put on entomology summer camps. It really instilled a great appreciation for insects and made the choice super easy.
What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?
My favorite class I have taken has to be Ento 116 which is the Insect Identification Lab. I found it all super interesting and I really enjoyed being able to go into the field and collect. I have also been so lucky to be able to serve as a T.A. (teaching assistant) for the class as well.
Are you involved in any clubs/organizations at UNL?
I am involved in the Insect Science Club, One Health Organization and the Nebraska Tick Network.
What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I would like to go to graduate school here at UNL focusing on insect toxicology.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy being outside, hiking, reading, being around friends, watching movies and cooking.
