Faculty Profile

Education

  • B.S. in Agricultural & Animal Science with honors, University of Edinburgh, UK, 2003
  • M.S. in Animal Physiology & Entomology, Wageningen University, Netherlands,
  • Ph.D., Imperial College, London & Rothamsted Research, UK

Professional Responsibilities and Activities

  • My research program supports global food security and nutrition, with focus on three key areas:
    1) Specially formulated textiles for the protection of humans from disease vectors, specialty fabrics/ bags for grain storage,
    2) Novel approaches to managing vectors and noxious flies on livestock within the IANR/UNL colleges, and
    3) The development, evaluation and use of innovative affordable agricultural tools, digital platforms designed for smart phone app and 3D printed add on tools to support smallholder farmers, government policy and improve food safety and nutrition. I am responsible for an interdisciplinary group of young scientists that are trained to provide knowledge on global stored product pest, public & animal health vector & noxious fly management. My teaching responsibilities will include ENTO 896 Insects of Stored Products as an online special course for Spring 2022.
