The Lawrence Bruner Graduate Student Club has sent out a call for nominations for the Distinguished Alumni award for alumni from the UNL Entomology Department.
In 2012, the Lawrence Bruner Entomology Club and the Department of Entomology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln established the recognition of a distinguished alumnus or alumna for his or her career, professionalism, contributions and dedication to science. The honor recognizes and promotes achievement and professionalism in Entomology and its related disciplines. Other goals include highlighting the accomplishments of alumni, enhancing alumni and student connections, and highlighting the mentorship of current and past faculty.
Eligibility:
- Be a degree-holding alumnus or alumna of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Department of Entomology or of past departments in which entomology was grouped.
- Demonstrate high standards of professionalism.
- Have established a reputation of distinction, excelling in either the broad discipline of entomology or in any aspect of the science – e.g. academia (extension, research, or teaching), industry, government, military, private enterprise or other.
- Have received a degree in entomology at least five years ago from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
- Not currently employed by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
- Be willing and available to accept the recognition by participating in on-campus activities, and present a seminar on a topic of his or her choice during May 1-5th (any specific date during this period will be acceptable). The award will be presented at the 2023 Alumni Dinner on the first week of May, 2023.
Nominations:
Nominations are encouraged from all members associated with the Department of Entomology at UNL, including current and former students, faculty, and staff. Each nomination will consist of a nomination form (Word), a letter of nomination and supporting material (e.g. curriculum vitae or career highlights). Nomination packages will be held for one additional year; after the second year, candidates will be considered only if re-nominated. Evaluation of nominations will begin on Jan 20th, 2023. Nomination packages received by that date will receive full consideration.
